Mercedes-Benz SLK 250 BlueEFFICIENCY, SLK 55 AMG pricing announced

Following its newly arrived SLK 200 BlueEFFICIENCY and SLK 350 BlueEFFICIENCY siblings, Mercedes-Benz’s Roadster line-up has grown by two to include the mid-spec SLK 250 BlueEFFICIENCY and fire-breathing SLK 55 AMG.

Priced lower than the model it replaces (the SLK 300 SMG Sports Package), SLK 250 BlueEFFICIENCY represents a reduction of $9325 to arrive at a manufacturer’s recommended list price of $91,900.

Despite a drop in price, this new model actually gains equipment, with features now including steering wheel-mounted shift paddles, seat position memory package, mirror package, COMAND online entertainment system, intelligent lighting package and 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels.

SLK 250 BlueEFFICIENCY outputs 150kW/310Nm to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 6.6 seconds, which consuming just 7.0L/100km and emitting 163g/km of CO2.

At the top end of the spectrum SLK 55 AMG brings Down Under a normally-aspirated version of AMG’s M152 5.5-litre V8, delivering 310kW/540Nm. With cylinder shut-down and AMG cylinder management, SLK 55 AMG consumes almost 30 per cent less fuel than the outgoing model. Its combined fuel consumption is 8.5L/100km while CO2 emissions are 197g/km.

Mercedes-Benz says this makes the SLK 55 AMG the lowest emission V8-powered Roadster in Australia, regardless of price.

The SLK 55 AMG is further available with a limited range of SLK-Class options, the most popular of which Mercedes anticipates will be the AMG Handling Package. At $8825 this option includes composite front brakes, AMG Performance suspension and AMG rear-axle differential lock.

SLK 55 AMG is priced from $155,000 (MRLP).
